This year sees the debut of the BBC Introducing Stage at both Reading and Leeds Festivals. Whilst the lucky folk at Leeds had the unsigned stage in years gone by, now both sites will get a chance to see the next generation of UK music over the weekend.
The bands on the stage are chosen by a combination of the BBC - through their UK-wide network of Introducing shows and a panel of music experts led by Huw Stephens, Sandman magazine and Leeds based promoters Futuresound.
Huw Stephens said; "Reading and Leeds is the festival for new music and so to have Introducing there is very exciting. The line-up for the stage offers a whole load of new talent and compliments the array of new artists playing."
Live sets from the Introducing stage will be available at bbc.co.uk/introducing and the BBC’s Reading and Leeds Festival site at bbc.co.uk/readingandleeds.
The Unsigned Stages at Leeds in the past have helped the likes of Twisted Wheel and Polytechnic land record deals. This year sees a few bands already making significant waves in the industry on the bill with Northern Ireland’s General Fiasco and London’s Ipso Facto already well known by A & R and cutting edge media types alike.
The BBC Introducing Stage will feature the following bands throughout the weekend with more names to be announced shortly.
